Gaganam Movie Review - A hijack flick...

The leading websites like GreatAndhra and Idlebrain  have been making hue and cry over the fact that gaganam has no songs/duets etc., and prasing the producer crazily. It seems to like so much of paid stuff.

Our reviewer Danayya got frustrated since he did not understand what is so much to sacrifice there.
It would have been a real sacrifice and a "novel" attempt if this movie was released with a ticket price of  35-40 instead of 70-100 range - since " in reality" the budget is half that of a Nagarjuna's movie. So why not these producers "sacrifice" with half the ticket price.

Danayya was furious when he went to a movie earlier called "Alasyam Amrutham " which came under prestigious Suresh Film Productions but came as a cheap product quietly pocketing 100/- in a multiplex from those poor souls  who respected the great name and banner.

Ok,. no deviations.... How is Gaganam ?

As the title suggests most of the movie takes place in the sky ( atleast expected to be ) though in reality it is inside a well constructed set in Ramoji Film City.
Gaganam deals with human emotions when a plane is hjacked. The director Radha Mohan has handled the movie confidently . He tried to mix thriller with little humor.
  • The idea to deviate from mainstream cinema is appreciating. "Ragada /Wanted " are example of sterotype definitions- can work though.
  • The interval twist is good,.
  • The humour should have been better though.
  • Nagarjuna is one guy who does a variety of roles and this is a new character in his kitty. He did well.
  • The ending is predictable.
On a whole :

Danayya went into this movie for some gripping and breath taking moments since the genre is of thriller nature.
He did not get them enough rather it was diluted with insipid comedy.
This film might get the same response as "Eanadu" has got.

But still one question plagues danayya - why did I pay 100/- when the budget of this film is 1/3 of the budget of say " magadheera " - If it is from a new producer I would have "encouraged" him, but from a production house like "Dil " Raju if a low budget movie comes ?
