Baladoor - Movie Review

Imagine a hero who does everything good for a house behind the scenes, beats the goons for their family members, does all the sacrfice for the family etc., . while all the viewers of the movie are wondering about his larger than life character - the people around the hero like his family members, friends strangely hates him and calls him useless in the movie and yet the warrior wins even their hearts by the end of the movie.
Yes, you got the hero -it has got to be Venkatesh.
He has had done this with amazing ease and elan in the past and got some decent hits with his heart touching performances, be it in suryavamsham, lakshmi, sankranthi, and last but not least who will forget raja and many more . Baladoor should have been yet another one for venky .
It's not venky , but got to be ravi teja this time.

Baladoor is a routine family story-ala described above ( even the punch line suggests that) , with some decent performances from the veteran Super Star Krishna, Ever energetic Ravi Teja .
Ravi Teja steals the show with his care-a- damn attitude in the first half and little bit serious role coupled with some mass elements in the second half.
Anushka provides the glamour quotient for the movie, who meets hero in railway station and falls in love with him .
Pradeep Rawat and Subbu Raju done the role of baddies causing trouble for Rama Krishna's ( Krishna) family .

On the negative side,
Music by Radha Krishnan is disappointing .
Direction by Uday Shankar is flat and out-dated to say the least, void of any twists or suspense element .

Trade Talk - Top 5 Telugu Films this week

It has been signficant start to the second half of 2008, with some movies finally ringing the box office cash registers.

Kathanayakudu has been released amidst lot of hype, but could not meet the expectations.
These are top five films this week :
1. Katha Nayakudu - The openings of the film are pretty good.However the chances of it sustaining are pretty low.
Strengths : Rajni, Jagapathi Babu, touching climax
Weakness : Slow narration, poor comedy and direction.
2. Ullasam gaa , Uth...ga.. : This is going to be one of the coolest hits of the season. It has given the web based reviewers like grateandhraaaaa a reason to think of before writing off movies as duds, for some unexplained reasons.
This movie has very good feel with it.Nice comedy to go with . Ofcourse, Hero is a let down for the movie( but that happens- he has to go a long way ) , otherwise it would have been a block buster ala toliprema.
Strenghs : Direction , Heart throbbing Sneha Ullal , Music, comedy
Weakness : Hero , slow in parts.

3. Ready : This is the biggest hit of the year so far without much of debate. Brahmanandam , the veteran has a point to prove his year.

Strengths : Ram, Brahmanandam, Comedy, Music
Weakness : Slow First Half, weak climax.

4. Dasavatharam : A technical masterpiece from Kamal donning 10 different roles with amazing ease . A visual treat worth watching once for the sheer efforts put in for making of this movie.
Strengths : Kamal, Himesh's haunting Music, Technical values
Weakness : Feeble story line.
5 . Hare Ram : Kalyan Ram has come up with a winner here . It is worth commendable that he is trying different things. This is by far his best performance, and his consciousness as a producer who strives for he best is seen on the screen.
Strengths : Screenplay, production values.
Weakness : Music, perhaps too many twists.

With six-pack vishal and gorgeus zero -pack Nayanatara coming in Salute , and ravi teja - Aushka starrer Baladoor , this Independence day with an extended holiday is all set of ring-in cash for box office.

Seenu Vytla Maro Hitku "Ready" - Review

Seenu Vytla has got this unique nack of getting runaway hits and he proved himself correct yet again with the latest entertainer "Ready " starring Ram and Genelia.
Chandu(Ram) is a happy -go-lucky kid in his family and a friendly natured person.In his attempt to marry his friend with his lover, he accidentally abducts pooja (Genelia) who happens to hail from a factionist family and the rest....... is expected.
Though the story has nothing home to write about, and reminds us of "Dhee" and "Vinodam" every now and then,,,, but vytla's trademark comedy do pack a punch.
Brahmandam as Mc Donald Murthy, and Sunila as classical dancer "janaki" tickle the ribs of the audience.
Ram did a decent job trying to be original and Genelia as usual at bubbly best .
Also worth metnioning is the cinematography, peter hein's action sequences, and slick editing adding rich production values to the movie.
On a whole , a decent watch.
Rating : 3.25/5

Strengths : Comedy by sunil and brahmanandam,
second half is gripping.
Weakness : Devi's music.
First half drags a bit.

Top Telugu Movies

It took long time for me make my movie blog active. Anyway I promise all my readers to contribute actively in my blog and make it interesting also. I always wanted to give something specia which you will not find it about movies in regular sites.
I attempted to give the viewers the bussiness side of movie but readers suggested this is not something passionate movies fan wants. So I am going back to basics to generate some passionate content about the movies.

So many people are wondering what would be the best made telugu movies ever? My attempt is also exactly that. With the help of my friends I came up with top telugu movies list. Of course anything of this sort will be subjective to my (other contributors) taste. We did make a good effort to make it objective.

We tried to consider all the movies from all generations (from 1950s to latest), all genres (Action, Love, Sentiment, Comedy, Family etc). However if you disagree with my views, feel free to leave your valuble comments.

Sarkar Raj- A good watch

Sarkar Raj released today amidst of high expectations and it did not let down much.
The movie is a powerful political tale which revolves round setting up of power plant in rural areas of maharashtra.
Amitabh holds the fort in the movie yet again, and gives a gripping performance keeping the audiences attended to the seat.
The movie showcases the human side of Subhash Nagre( sarkar) , while the prequel showed his power .
Abhishek as the quick and smart son ably carrying on the activities of the sarkar , under the guidance of his father has done very good job.
Aishwarya has given one for best performances till date,and you will look more at her role in the movie than her.
No Songs,duets and unnecessary boring moments in the movie.
Though movie is little slow, it sustains interest till the end , thanks to Bachan saab.
Ram gopal verma trade mark one-liners, a very calm and quite narration leaves speical mention.
He has chosen the same color grading that he has chosen for sarkar to maintain the feel of the movie .
Strengths : Amitabh,technical values
Weakness : Movie is little bit slow compared to the prequel
Overall raing : 3.25/5
Watch it over the weeknd.

Pandurangadu- Balayya is back.

In this fakely wound web of busy life, Panduranagadu is worth a watch for all of us for the bottom line it tries to convey-Respect parents. Parents are more than the God himself.
Also, it is a decent to attempt to showcase our culture,devotion and traditions.

Artist's Performance :
Balakrishna is simply graceful in dual roles as Pundareeka and Lord Krishna.esp. as Lord krishna, he has relived some of the moments of the Legend, the great, late NTR.
Also, the thought provoking discussions on Bhakti and Tatva are very engaging to the audience and makes them immersed into the story.
The role is a cake-walk for sneha.She has done this meaty kind of a understanding wife to perfection.Tabu is used mainly to woo the front benchers and she doesn't do injustice either.
Mohan Babu , though appeared in a brief role, has to applauded for his effort and it is his role that adds momentum to the movie in the later half.

Technical Depeartements :

Raghavendra Rao should be commended for his ability to drive a devotional message in a
commercial way. He has done it again and only he can do it. No others can even try.
Bharavi ,excepting a few times, where dialogues seem insipid and doesn't seem to have come from enough depth- otherwise he has put in brilliant performance in providing the script with all needed ingradients.
Music by MM keeravani is another very useful addtion to the movie.

Scenes to watch out for :
The very entry scene of Lord Krishna : "viswaroopam" ( Theatre resounded with claps)
The scene of pundareeka asking Lord to wait outside as he has to complete his pithru seva.

Weakness :
Couple of double meaning dialogues- comedy is below par.
Tabu probably went over-board ( esp. in "kosala desapu" song)
The sets of Brindavanam etc.,

Having said that, the movie is worth a watch for all the good efforts put in by "few good men".

Pandurangadu is releasing all over the world today ,without much of hype.With not many films successful this summer, and industry just waiting for something to happen, this can just be the much needed saviour of 2008.BalaKrishna , sneha , Tabu is expected to have put-in brilliant performances.

BujjiGadu - storylo konchem weak ayyadu

It is so easy to put the blame for weak collections in tollywood on scorching heat, the big success of IPL etc., we should not forget the fact that, the movies of late have to blame themselves for this situation. Infact we are reaching mid-2008, still, we donn have a pokiri , simhadri ,a samara simha erddy or a tagore yet this year that set box office ringing and stands out as contender for the year's best . Like Okka Magaadu,Jalsa,kantri,parugu - Bujjigadu was another movie, which if it got its basics right would have been the first big hit of the season.( Jalsa collected lot of money, but as everybody accepts, it is more a 50-day movie ).
Bujjigadu has all the inputs to make it big- The macho man Prabhas, cute Trisha, Mohan babu - the legend ( or say, the celebrity) and above all- the pokiri director in tollywood- one and only Puri.
But , if you go with the expectation of Union of all these talents- there you are , watch your leg now, it is already in the mud. It is not even intersection,to say the least.
Stroy line is wafer thin, hero(Bujji) , native of vizag, leaves his parents in his childhood, as his childhood friend(chitti) asks him not to talk with her anymore , a reason which they themselves call silly-so we can conclude for a silly reason only to spend the rest of his childhood in chennai beating up goons -again for no reason, etc., . After 12 years, how bujji retruns back to vizag and wins chitti forms the rest of the film.
First half is fairly simple and entertaining with good hummable songs with elegant picturisation ( esp. the song with trisha, shown in multiple frames on the screen)
Second half is a painful drag, as the screenplay looks lost and the story doesn't seem to go anywhere( infact, it neednot go anywhere , we can have climax immediately after the interval)
Prabhas is really cool and goadavari accent suited him well.
Mohan babu is wasted in the movie, some there is no energy at all in his character.
Trisha and sanjana has nothing much to offer.
sandeep chowta , has given some peppy numbers .
Comedy track is forgetable to say the least.

The strenghts of the movie : Prabhas, first half of the movie
The Weakness : Mohan Babu, very weak villany, and poor screenplay in second half, worst comedy
The biggest flaw :
The main villains in the movie machireddy ( kota ) and his sons, by nature they are weak and cannot handle sivanna ( mohan babu) alone and request bujji to do this favour for them.
Now just imagine bujji joining hands with sivanna by end of first half to eliminate these alrady weak fellows.
Overall yet antoher much expected movie turned dud.
With not much happening in movie front,and deccan chargers ousted in IPL, the by-election in some regions of Telangana is the happening topic in AP right now, with All political parties keeping their fingers crossed .
Tommorow I am going to vote. Long live democracy.
